Back-To-School Backpack Coordinator – Volunteer Position
Britepaths is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping Northern Virginia residents meet their basic quality of life needs through food and financial assistance and financial and workforce mentoring programs.
We are seeking a positive volunteer to assist with our Back-to-School program and special development projects as they arise. The Back-to-School Backpack Coordinator will work closely with our Outreach Manager to oversee our Back-to-School donation sites. This position is temporary, ending around the third week in August. The Back-to-School Backpack Coordinator will work in a hybrid model, with opportunities to work virtually and in the Fairfax office as needed. The work schedule is flexible, but core hours are 10 am to 2 pm, Monday – Friday.
Full vaccination against COVID-19 is required for this position. Ideal candidates will have strong communication and interpersonal skills. Must be self-motivated and innovative, have excellent organizational and planning skills, and collaborate easily with diverse groups. Good home internet connection and a vehicle capable of carrying moving boxes are also a must for this position.
Responsibilities may include:
- Driving to multiple locations to pick up and deliver new backpacks
- Communicating with trusted partners to track progress
- Sorting donated backpacks to fulfill school requests
- Delivering backpack donations to schools
