In-Person Tax Filing Assistance
If you or your family earned less than $60,000 in 2022, you may qualify for free, in-person tax filing assistance through VITA beginning on January 31 at one of 4 Northern Virginia locations: Alexandria, Annandale, Herndon and Reston.
Walk-ins are welcome, no appointments are needed.

File Your Taxes Online Using IRS Free File
IRS Free File, available only through IRS.gov, provides people an opportunity to file their taxes online for free. IRS Free File is available to any person or family who earned $73,000 or less in 2022.

Document Checklist for Filing Your Taxes
Here is a list of some of the documents and items you will need to have before filing your taxes:
- Your social security number or tax ID number
- Your spouse’s full name, social security number or tax ID number, and date of birth
- Bank account number and routing number for direct deposit
- W-2 Forms
- Unemployment form (1099-G)
- Dependent(s) dates of birth and social security numbers or tax ID numbers
