George Mason University Engaged Summer Fellow
Jessica “Jess” Vasquez-Luna joined Britepaths in the Summer of 2026 as a George Mason University Engaged Summer Fellow through the Office of Community Engagement and Civic Learning, serving as a Food Security Program Coordinator. In this role, she supported Britepaths’ access initiatives, including the BriteHarvest program, SNAP Gap Pantry, and Back to School program, assisting with client services, volunteer coordination, and community outreach.
Jess is the Founder and Executive Director of Unidos for Hope, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering underserved communities through culturally responsive education initiatives, public health resource navigation, and community-centered support. Her work is deeply rooted in her commitment to addressing systemic barriers across the DMV region.
She is currently pursuing a degree in Economics at George Mason University with a concentration in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics, focusing on global health and affairs, public policy, and health equity. Her interests center on understanding how systems shape community well-being to further advance opportunity, access, and equity for marginalized communities. She is planning to pursue global health governance and health policy law to further explore legal frameworks that can expand access and equity globally.
In her free time, Jess enjoys hiking, spending time outdoors, and staying connected to her community through volunteering at local social service organizations.
