Dawn Sykes

Dawn Sykes currently serves as the Senior Director of Operations at Britepaths. In this role, she works directly with senior leadership to manage the office and business operations, as well as to develop performance goals and long-term operational plans. Dawn joined Britepaths in 2013 as the Seasonal Programs Manager. In 2017, she played a crucial role in establishing the Financial Empowerment Center and served as its manager until she transitioned to her current position. For a short time, Dawn worked with Volunteer Fairfax as the Agency Relations/Membership and Office Coordinator helping organizations with their membership benefits and fostering relationships within the community. 

Dawn began her professional career in the federal government, providing administrative support to various agencies. She worked at NASA, where she was assigned to a special project, The National Commission on Space, and other departments within the organization. Additionally, she served as a financial reports analyst for the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve, focusing on the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act program.  

Dawn has also held roles in direct mail marketing for St. Anthony Publishing and Americomm Direct Marketing. For a short time, she worked with Volunteer Fairfax as the Membership and Office Coordinator helping organizations with their membership benefits and fostering relationships within the community. 

Dawn holds a master’s degree in business administration and a bachelor’s in marketing. She took a break from her career to support her husband’s military career and to be with her children. During that time, she dedicated herself to volunteering. She held committee positions for joint military spousal events and was a delivery person for Fairfax County Meals on Wheels and an administrative volunteer with the Fairfax County Area Agency on Aging. 

Dawn is the wife of a Navy veteran and the mother of two adult children. She is a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated, where she enjoys serving the community by providing life-changing services and resources.
