Workforce Development Program Professional Volunteers
Britepaths’ Workforce Development program helps Northern Virginia job seekers navigate the job search process and find meaningful employment. We are seeking volunteers with various skills and interests to assist staff and clients with different aspects of the program. Options include providing administrative assistance for the program, offering interview preparation or LinkedIn profile help to clients, or reviewing client resumes and assisting with resume writing. Details below.
Volunteering is virtual until further notice. We welcome all professionals within the Northern Virginia/DMV area. Hours per week are flexible. This would be a flexible, ongoing, as-needed volunteer position with Britepaths.
Volunteer Opportunities Are as Follows:
- Resume Writing and Assistance: We’re seeking volunteers who are experienced with Federal and/or non-federal resume writing and would be willing to work with our clients to provide edits, reviews, and feedback for their resumes, as well as with cover letter writing assistance. Volunteers should have strong writing skills and attention to detail and be knowledgeable about resume formatting and styling, use of keywords, bullets, and language so that clients’ strengths will be highlighted. Clients receiving this support are committed to working with our staff and volunteers to improve their career outlook through gaining resume skills and improving their employment prospects.
-
Interview Prep: We need volunteers to conduct mock interviews with clients. Volunteers should have experience hiring candidates for jobs, strong interpersonal skills, and are willing to meet virtually with clients to provide immediate feedback and tips for connecting with interviewers.
-
LinkedIn Profile Creation/Enhancement: We need volunteers with strong writing skills and experience in creating a strong LinkedIn profile for job searches to work with clients to create and/or edit their LinkedIn profiles.
