Artful Living: Connected -- CANCELLED
In March 2020, as Fairfax County and our region began to shut down due to COVID-19, Britepaths made the difficult decision to cancel our annual Artful Living event, which had been scheduled for the evening of April 23 at the Country Club of Fairfax.
The event was a celebration of the strong connections that help struggling families and individuals succeed in our community, with a juried art show with art for sale, live music, a live auction, raffles and more. Proceeds from the evening would have supported our services.
As we realized the impact a prolonged shutdown from COVID-19 would have on our families, we pivoted on March 15 to our Adjust. Give. campaign, and our Artful Living sponsors graciously pivoted with us, donating their sponsorship funds to the campaign. By April 15, these seed supporters, along with hundreds of generous community members, donated more than $100,000 to help Britepaths support our families through COVID-19 and beyond.
We are now focused heavily on distributing food and financial assistance, while also helping community members adjust by providing Virtual services and resources, offering Financial Literacy, Workforce Development supports and more. Most of our staff is working from home, and we are mailing grocery store gift cards to our clients so that we can all comply with social distancing.
None of us knows what the future holds, and it remains unclear when we might be able to gather again at events like Artful Living. We are certainly looking forward to the day when we can celebrate again with our friends and supporters.
