Communications Intern

Reports To: Communications Manager 

Job Status: Temporary, Hourly, 10 hrs/wk (June – August 2026) 

Location: Primarily remote with required onsite support during the week leading up to and during the Back to School Resource Fair taking place on Friday, August 31, to Saturday, August 1.

Internship Summary 

The Communications Intern will support Britepaths’ marketing and communications efforts for the 2026 Back to School campaign under the guidance of the Communications Manager. The intern will help create digital and print content that increases awareness of the campaign, engages donors and community partners, and supports fundraising and event participation. 

  • This internship will run from June 1, 2026, through August 1, 2026. The role is primarily remote; however, the intern will be expected to work onsite during the week leading up to and during the Back to School Resource Fair. 
  • The internship provides hands-on experience in nonprofit communications, marketing, storytelling, event promotion, and community engagement. 

Major Responsibilities 

Social Media and Digital Communications 

  • Assist in creating and scheduling social media content promoting the Back to School campaign across Britepaths’ platforms. 
  • Help develop graphics, short-form videos, photos, and captions highlighting campaign progress, sponsors, volunteers, and community impact. 
  • Support engagement tracking and identify opportunities to increase campaign visibility online. 
  • Assist with updates to the Back to School campaign webpage and GiveSmart platform. 

Marketing and Promotional Materials 

  • Assist in creating flyers, postcards, social media graphics, signage, and other promotional materials for the Back to School campaign. 
  • Support outreach efforts by preparing materials for sponsors, donors, volunteers, and community partners. 
  • Help maintain consistent branding and messaging across campaign materials. 

Storytelling and Content Development 

  • Capture and organize photos, videos, and stories related to the Back to School campaign. 
  • Draft short impact stories, captions, and campaign updates for email and social media use. 
  • Assist with highlighting sponsor and volunteer engagement. 

Event Support and Community Engagement 

  • Support communications and promotional efforts leading up to the Back to School Resource Fair. 
  • Assist with event setup, signage, photography, videography, and on-site communications during the week of the event. 
  • Help organize branded materials and supplies for outreach and event activities. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • A current college student  
  • Interest in communications, marketing, public relations, nonprofit management, journalism, graphic design, or related field. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Familiarity with social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. 
  • Basic graphic design or Canva experience preferred. 
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects. 
  • Interest in community impact and nonprofit work. 
  • Access to reliable Wi-Fi and computer for remote work.  

 

Position requires 10 hours/week with an hourly rate of $18-$20 an hour, dependent upon experience.
