Abra Kurt
Executive Director

Abra Kurt joined Britepaths in early 2023 to lead organizational fundraising and communications strategy and was appointed Executive Director in November 2024.
With a career that spans 20 years in the social and private sectors, Abra operated her own nonprofit consulting practice, served as the Chief Development + Communications Officer at a women’s re-entry services organization in Washington, D.C., led Mid-Atlantic corporate social responsibility communications for Capital One, and worked with high-profile clients through a D.C.-based boutique public relations firm. As an adjunct professor, she taught Media Relations and Messaging courses in Georgetown University’s Master of Professional Studies Program. A history maker early in her career, Abra was the first woman to be hired at MCSR, a ground-breaking, award-winning organization dedicated to engaging boys and men in preventing violence against women and girls.
Alongside her history of nonprofit leadership and strategic and business acumen, Abra brings a passion for social justice work and growth-oriented changemaking. During her career, Abra has raised millions of dollars and global awareness for a diverse range of organizations, programs, and issues, and spearheaded dozens of local, regional, and national campaigns. A visionary and analytical leader, Abra intends to build on Britepaths’ successes while strengthening business practices, driving meaningful outcomes for families and individuals, and positioning the organization to scale its programs and services.
Abra is certified as an Integrative Life and Wellness Coach and trained in the trauma-informed counseling model Seeking Safety, as well as in providing the Johns Hopkins RAPID method of psychological first aid. Committed to giving back, Abra has served as a youth and adult literacy volunteer; mentor to young professionals and aspiring entrepreneurs; and pro bono coach to survivors of war, sexual assault, and domestic violence, and women re-entering the community after a period of incarceration. She has served on several Boards of Directors, including Animal Charities of America and Calvary Women’s Services, an organization providing housing, health, education, and employment programs that empower homeless women to change their lives, and was also appointed to the Hispanic Heritage Foundation’s ACTION! Advisory Board, working to diversify the business side of the entertainment industry. Abra currently serves on the Fairfax Alliance for Human Services Board and resides in Loudoun County, Virginia, with her husband, Scott, and their family of adorable rescue kitties.
