Stuff the Bus 2025 Food Drive
Community members, local students, and Britepaths’ employees joined forces on Saturday, February 15, at the Fairfax City Walmart Supercenter to collect over $2,100 worth of donations for Fairfax County’s annual Stuff the Bus food drive. The community donated 995.9 pounds of food, valued at $1,961.92, and $188.35 in cash and gift card donations, adding up to a grand total of $2,150.27. The Capital Area Food Bank estimates that some 103,000 are experiencing food insecurity in the Greater Washington area. These donations will support our Partner Schools in the Fairfax County Public School system to provide healthy meals, drinks, and snacks through our Food4Thought program to children who may otherwise go without food outside of school hours.
Stuff the Bus is an annual food drive program run by the Fairfax County Government’s Neighborhood and Community Services Department in partnership with local nonprofits. The initiative encourages community members to donate food by filling a bus with their contributions at Stuff the Bus events. Volunteers for Britepaths worked from 10 AM to 4 PM promoting the event, collecting donations, unloading the bus, and transporting donations to our office for storage in our emergency pantry. These volunteers included members of the Robinson Secondary School’s Student Government Association, Britepaths’ Board Member Christina Saxon, and other community members alongside Britepaths’ Food Security and Youth Programs Manager, Cora Lundgren, and Office Administrator, Krizia Fuentes.
Considering the cold and rainy weather, we are especially grateful to both our volunteers and the community for their generosity and dedication to helping fight youth food insecurity.
