Join Britepaths in helping local students start the school year prepared for success! We are seeking volunteers to support our 2026 Back to School Resource Fair, where families will receive new backpacks filled with school supplies and connect with community resources that support student success throughout the school year.

The Back to School Resource Fair brings together families, volunteers, and community partners to ensure local students have the tools they need to thrive in the classroom. In addition to receiving school supplies, families can visit with community organizations, receive household and hygiene items through our SNAP Gap Pantry packs, and explore The Secret Garden at Britepaths, our free community take-home library.

Volunteer Training: Volunteers will receive role-specific instructions and event information prior to their shift.

Volunteers must be 16 years or older, comfortable standing or walking for extended periods, and able to engage respectfully and warmly with diverse families. Volunteers with Spanish-language skills are especially encouraged to sign up. Spanish-speaking volunteer opportunities are available for most roles to help create a welcoming and accessible experience for all families.

Volunteer Roles Include:

  • Check-In/Registration: Welcome families, verify registration, and help ensure a smooth check-in process.
  • Event Greeter: Greet families upon arrival, answer questions, and help direct them throughout the fair.
  • School Supplies Distribution: Distribute backpacks and school supplies to registered families and help keep the distribution area organized.
  • Pantry Packs Distribution: Distribute pre-packed SNAP Gap Pantry bags to families.
  • The Secret Garden Helper: Assist families with selecting free books from The Secret Garden at Britepaths and help maintain the space.
  • Kid’s Activity Room: Help supervise children’s activities and crafts while families move through the event.
  • Event Floater: Provide support wherever needed throughout the fair, assisting volunteers, staff, and families to keep the event running smoothly.
