Financial Empowerment Volunteers
Britepaths’ Financial Empowerment Program and our work at the Financial Empowerment Center at South County (FECSoCo) are possible because of the dedication of our volunteers! Volunteer positions include: Financial Coaches and Mentors, Financial Empowerment Workshop Instructors, Spanish-speaking Virtual Administrative Assistant and Community Engagement Volunteers.
Our Financial Coaches and Mentors provide virtual, one-on-one client services. The length of one-on-one client engagement ranges from one session to multiple sessions, to 6 months or more. Typical client meetings last 1 hour. Our workshops are offered virtually or in-person at a community partner’s location within the DC metro area, typical length of class is 1 hour. Our Community Ambassadors represent Britepaths and our programs at community engagement events.
Britepaths provides training, support and the tools volunteers need to help individuals and families in Northern Virginia better manage their finances and achieve and maintain self-sufficiency. We are seeking volunteers who live in the DC metro area.
Our Current Volunteer Needs Include:
- Volunteers to teach personal finance workshops, both virtually and in-person. The workshops aim to empower individuals by providing them with essential financial knowledge and skills. Volunteers can choose to teach during weekday daytime or evening hours, depending on their availability. Each workshop typically lasts for one hour. High need for bi-lingual Spanish, Dari, Pashto, and Amharic.
- Volunteers to provide virtual one-on-one financial coaching and mentorship to our clients. By sharing your expertise, you will play a crucial role in providing guidance and support for our clients to reach their financial goals. The commitment can vary based on the role you choose and your availability. Preference is for volunteer to be a Certified Financial Planner® or Accredited Financial Counselor®.
- Community Engagement Volunteers to represent our programs at community events (must have own transportation).

Note: For those interested in volunteering as a financial coach, mentor or instructor, we hold virtual group new volunteer orientations 3-4 times per year and provide one-on-one volunteer training. You must have a solid financial background and strong interest in teaching financial education either to individuals or in a group setting.
