Back to School Needs

Britepaths’ Back to School Fair was featured on the cover of The Fairfax Connection, showcasing a joyful moment from the event: a Britepaths client watching as her daughter creates decorative backpack rings alongside her sisters. The publication’s August 2025 edition featured a story about Britepaths’ 2025 Back to School Program, highlighting our efforts to equip 500 local students and 60 teachers with backpacks and essential school supplies.

The article outlined the financial realities many Britepaths client families face, noting that the average annual income for a client household is significantly below the federal poverty level for a family of three.

The piece also documents Britepaths’ first-ever two-day Back to School Fair, where students selected their backpacks and supply kits, participated in crafts and reading activities, and chose books from The Secret Garden at Britepaths. Parents connected with staff and volunteers to learn about community and career resources, college readiness and scholarships, and other wraparound services available through Britepaths. The article also includes remarks and reflections from clients, staff, and volunteers about their experience with the Back to School Fair and the impact of the Back to School Program on the community.
