Lucero Salgado
Food Security and Youth Programs Intern

Lucero joined Britepaths in June 2025 as part of the George Mason University Summer Engaged Fellowship. During the summer, she will serve as the Food Security and Youth Programs intern, where she will be working alongside our Case Manager Intern to bring a client-focused approach to Britepaths. Additionally, as part of the Food Security and Youth Programs team, Lucero will assist with the management of Britepaths’ SNAP Gap food pantry and The Secret Garden initiative.
Currently, Lucero is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in government and international politics from George Mason University. As part of the George Mason community, Lucero is involved in the Hispanic and Latine Leadership Alliance, where she works alongside other student leaders on campus to build a vibrant and inclusive environment for all. Moreover, Lucero will be joining the George Mason First Gen+ Center to keep educating the community and advocating for underrepresented groups on campus.
Alongside her experience on campus, Lucero has taken her work outside of the classroom. She interned for the Consular Section of the Mexican Embassy during the Spring 2025 semester, where she worked for the documentation and administration agency in order to serve Mexican citizens residing abroad. In addition, Lucero will be joining the Mexican Embassy’s Office of Political Affairs this upcoming Fall to deepen her knowledge on the relationship between Mexico and the United States.
