Young Men’s Service League Delivers!
On the weekend of July 27, 2019, local teens and their parents from the Young Men’s Service League (YMSL) Vienna-Oakton Chapter shopped for $1,831 worth of groceries, equaling 1,300 pounds of healthy foods and household supplies, and delivered them to 18 families in our Food Bridge program. This was their second summer as Food Bridge Supporters.
Said one of the moms, “The event was very popular with our group and we look forward to participating again next year.”
Britepaths’ Food Bridge Program partners with local faith communities, businesses and groups to deliver grocery gift cards and/or food to up to 30 families every other week throughout each year. The families who benefit are working with our mentors in our Financial Literacy and/or Workforce Development programs, and this assistance helps them pay other bills and build savings while they work toward self-sufficiency.
We are so grateful to YMSL and all our Food Bridge Supporters. We have a great need for more organizations to volunteer in this capacity. Delivering or mailing grocery store gift cards, or donating funds so we can send gift cards, are also options.
